| Need HELP stocking my 20 | |
BabyBlueEyes![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Hobbyist Posts: 105 Kudos: 110 Votes: 1 Registered: 10-Sep-2004 ![]() | well i have a 20 gal tank with a filter a heater a light and everything else. i have 9 fishies 1 swordtail 4 platys 2 albino cories 1 golden shark 1 gwarf gourami im going to take back my golden shark as its getting to be about 5 inches! so if i give away my golden shark i will have 8 fishies in total. what other fish can i buy to stock up my 20 gal? i know the total amount of fish you can keep in a 20 gal is 10 fishies so i will need 2 more fishies. |

But since you have removed the shark, I think the best thing to do is add one or two more albino cories. They would appreciate the company, and wouldn't over-tax your filtration. HTH ![]() |

Are your platies all one sex or mixed? If mixed, the minimum best ratio is 1M/2F, preferably 1M/3F. As solublefish said, there isn't a certain number that makes a tank stocked or overstocked. The very general rule of thumb is 1" of fish per gallon, but there are other factors to be taken into consideration.
