| Newt's mouth growing back? | |
Mike R![]() Fish Addict Posts: 593 Kudos: 830 Votes: 322 Registered: 27-Jul-2004 ![]() | I have a newt (species unknown, looks kind of like an alligator, no gills, green, ridge down the middle with two smaller ridges on either side, flat tail, eyes on top like a gator, square snout, yellow and black mottled underbelly.) that had a what looked like a cottony fungus attack his mouth. I suspect it was bacterial because it ate away part of his mouth. We got it cleared up but he seems to be unable to eat. His snout is shorter than it used to be and the end is open, like it was snipped off. He tries to get food but can't seem to make his mouth work right and doesn't get much if any in his mouth. We have him in a 5gal. by himself to see if we can get some food of some sort down him in hopes his mouth will grow back. It appears like it is but may just be healing and not growing. So, my question is will it grow back in time if I can figure out how to get enough food down him? Thanks, Mike |
