I was replanting my tank this morning and OUCH! one of my bolivian rams was at my fingers like a jack russel terrierr. I found EGGS!!!!!

Anyhow, I hope I have just done the right thing here.... I just took the rock with the eggs and put them into a 5 gal tank with the guarding parent. I put a little of methalyne blue in there. I was going to put the suggested dosage in there but I looked at the water and it looked really dark.

Anyway. How long will it take to hatch the babys and then when will I remove the parent?

It might have been best for them to be left in the original tank, there may be a risk of the eggs being eaten by the parent fish from the stress of moving. However if they were in a busy community tank ther would have been a risk of them being eaten there too! Rams are very good parents and they don't need to be taken from the fry particularly, although in a 5g it will get crowded fairly quickly - so if the eggs hatch and fry survive, remove the parent once the fry are eating and swimming well I guess.

Yeah, I thought no predators and a sponge filter would be best for the little ones and yes, you are also right about the parent eating the eggs. Mine at half and is now fanning the other half.
