I managed to cut my finger while moving some furniture around in my basement. I washed it out and was about to fix some plants in my tank and then thought about what i was doing. I managed to use the other hand to fix the plants, but i was curious as to what kind of info i can get on risks of placing a wound in an aquarium? Its closed up pretty good now so im not worried, but it just got me thinking as to some of the dangers. Im pretty sure you can get TB from fish, but what else is there? Just wondering out loud .

Prob any number of random bacterial nastiness. Or just a bad rash.. Good thinking avoiding placing your hand in the tank.

The risk of getting any sort of illness is very small. I've gotten stabbed by some of my fish (raphael, loach, corys) several times and have had no problems with it.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

Piscine tuberculosis is about the only thing you can get from an open wound exposed to tank water and it's quite rare. As opposed to human TB, piscine TB causes an infection in the wound that doesn't go away over time, like gangrine. So if you get an infection in a wound that has been exposed to tank water, see your doctor ASAP and let him know where it's been. Otherwise, there are more possibilities of you introducing something on your hands (chemicals or diseases from another tank) to your aquarium than the fish transferring something to you.
