morpheus21![]() Fingerling Posts: 21 Kudos: 22 Votes: 0 Registered: 29-May-2004 ![]() | Hi, I need some info about pacific blue eyes. Bought three on the weekend but 2 have already died and have no idea why. Does not seem to be much info about them on the net and so can't find out much about them. The 2 that died acted lethargic about 12hrs before the died and the area between the dorsal fin and the tail kinda looked a little bit milky but only just barely. The one that is left is still acting fine and swimming about activley. They where in a 3 foot bay style tank with rainbows and gouramis and none of the other fish cared about them. What I do know about them is they are a schooling fish and they can like water that is 15 to 28 Celsius, and pH 5.5 to 7.8. My tank iswell within these parameters. Also found that they can be found in pure marine water. Got info from RAINBOWFISH ON-LINE. Any help would be appreciated as I really like this fish and would love to be able to succesfully have them in my aquarium. thanks |

It is kinda odd that it can live in fresh, brakish, AND marine waters. Very few fish are fine in all three types of water. I know that mollies can live in all three, but are best in brakish. Great looking fish, if you get a chance, could you post a picture? |

The males look particulary awesome when they dart around with their fins extended. Thanks for looking on for info on them, shame there isn't more available for them. I would like to get more as I know the male would be much happier with others but first I want to find out why the others died. Will try to get a pic put don't think will be able to as he moves so quickly that it'll probably just show up as a blur. Are they available in the states at all? thanks |

morpheus21![]() Fingerling Posts: 21 Kudos: 22 Votes: 0 Registered: 29-May-2004 ![]() | got the fish on saturday, female died on sunday night and the male died monday arvo. Don't think it was an infection as the 'milkiness' was only just visible, there was no fuzz no external looking degradation on the scales, if wasn't for them acting larthargic before dying I wouldn't have even noticed the 'milkiness' has you had to look for it to see it. |

That lethargy and the very slight milkiness almost sounds like an internal parasite to me. If the last one hasn't been affected, I'd assume it was something with just those two as opposed to something wrong with the tank... ![]() PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread. |

As for pics: blue is him with a pearl gourami, blue2 just him by himself, blue3 bad quality pic but shows him with his fins extended and blue4 is him and a Chequered Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia splendida inornata) http://au.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/morpheus21_au/album?.dir=f736 |
