Ok, so a little over a year ago, my fiance picked up some painted tetras, she didn't know at the time that they were actually painted, and thought they looked cool.

Anyway, one year and several tanks later, we discovered that we had a male and a female (we never bothered to fill out the school because we didn't think they would make it that long). Anyway, we just moved them and other fish into a 65 gallon tank last night and this morning that were spawning!

So, we set up a five and moved them over, hoping to save some of the eggs and maybe raise some of the fry. Any advice on successfully raising the fry? Particularly in the way of fry food?

Oh yeah, on an amusing note, the male was pink and the female blue!

Egg and fry care should be the same for all other tetras, though the fry may be weaker since the parents are.

Let us know how it goes.

Will do. The majority of them have turned white, however there are a few that are still clear. They should hatch soon!

Unfortunately it has been five days now and there are no fry. I have come to believe that they are incapable of reproducing, most likely due to the crap they were coated with. ]

actually i would think that the fry would be stronger than the pparents because when they die the fish their not messing with genetics just the body of the parent

Wow its a accomplishment to spawn a painted anything in my book. Not sure what went wrong with the eggs. They could have been unfertile. Good luck and keep us posted if they spawn again

think about it thoug green. if a pregnagt woman is unhealthy while pregnant then the chances of her child being healthy is greatly reduced, i think it would be the same way for fish.
