I got the Fluval peat moss granules to simulate blackwater conditions in my fairly new softwater tank. One of the ways I was supposed to tell it was working was by the tea color it should have added to the water. Five days later and still no change in the water color, and I presume the pH and gH. I was instructed by my local pet store to get a fluval nylon bag and put it directly in my power filter, a Whisper 40. This is the setup I am currently using. Can anyone tell me why the color of the water has not changed and has not appeared to work thus far?[img][/img]

Do a water test for pH and gH, to see if it actually did anything, you can't tell alone by colour, although it's a good indication.

Carbon will help take out the tannins, but i doubt it's taking it all out before he sees a tint.
