A blue or 3spot gourami is indeed trichogaster trichopterus but a dwarf gourami is Colisa lalia and I believe the pink kissing gourami is Helostoma rudolfi so you can't just stick them all under 1 scientific name. That's kinda like saying all tetras are Paracheirodon innesi which is the scientific name for the neon tetra instead of the dozens (100s?) of individual species that exist. They aren't all varients of the same species but various species with their own individual color variations. The 3 spot or blue gourami actually has something like 10 different colors and I've seen 3 different colors so far of the dwarf gourami. |
