I had a deathtrap plant! ] I had 2 plastic plants mixed in with my real ones and one of them I somehow must have shifted or something, but anyway, it ended up pressed sort of between a rock and the back corner of the tank (under the filter) and so far 2 fish have gotten stuck in it and DIED! I pulled it out after the second one. fortunately it was a fish i was going to return to the fish store anyway, but i feel so bad for the little guy! I should have pulled that dumb fake plant out after the first one got stuck in it! the only reason I didn't is because i wasn't convinced that getting stuck in the plant was the cause of death, but now i know for sure that it was.

I rid my tank of that plastic evil death plant. ]:|

:\ when I worked at Petco, we had dead fish in the plastic plants but they were already dead then the current stuck them in the plants...

I've never heard of a plastic plants actually killing fish though.

I use the silk ones I think they are much kinder to the fish they are soft and silky were as the plastic ones are hard and sharp.

yeah... I think I am going to stop using fake plants all together for a while.

and btw I am pretty sure that the fish didnt die before getting stuck in the plant because they were both nose-down and I have seen a lot of the fish trying hard to get the food bits that got stuck in it out.

yeah I am sure it was due to the plant being wedged between the rock and the glass

I've never had real plants in either of my tanks. I've never had my plastic plants kill any fish, but I have had terminally ill fish that preferred to die in the plants. It may be a comfort thing, or one of those 'instincts.'

Good thing you got rid of it.. Plastic plants suck.

I lost an Oto awhile back in a plastic plant, he was stuck good. He was probably after a piece of algae. Now the only place I keep plastics is in the cichlid tank..

I've seen in my stepdads tank, approx 3 pictus catfish get stuck in plastic plants and die.. One after the other.
So yeah, fish get stuck in them allright.

The Amazon Nut...
