I was wundering for a moment how many people on this site have polypterus. If you do post here. And feel free to post what kind of bichir and any extra info you would like to share. If you've had a bichir feel free to post here as well.

No joke. Now I know why everyone defers to Tortios on the bichir problems. Glad I never pipe up. My 1 polypterus endlicheris is still a babe - have had him about 3 months - and I just saw him eat 2 earthworms for the first time! (Used to feed him live fishies)

Heh...and to think that I just added another pair of albino senegals (at $11 each, I couldn't turn them down).

You guys in america and Canada have no idea how lucky you are. A shop that I go to sells albine brchirs for $1500 and regular birchirs for $400.

I'm so jealous, our import laws are too strict on too many fish.

I have often mused about moving to Aus and breeding bichirs for a living.

My petsmart is now regularly selling senegal bichirs as 'dinosaur eels"...

Aaah, toirtis! Those albino senegals, as babies, are so precious... I wish I could find such a good deal on them! And, Australia sounds like a great money-making plan...heh heh.

Yes, my petsmart sells them as dinosaur eels for 5.99 and another store sells them as polypeterus senegalus for 18.99 same size not so sure why the other store is so expensive mabe petsmart doesnt know something the other store knows.

And also keep in mind that they are not true eels. But often go called as eels cause of there "eel like" apperance.
