If the weather is cold and you are concerned about loss of heat, you can cover your tanks with blankets as an insultating factor and this will help to hold their temperature for a little while. A regular, smaller, and cheap generator will do for most tanks. The main draw is the heater and that is not much for medium sized tanks. I use a 200 watt heater for my 75 gal. You can easily get a 1000 watt generator for 2-3 hundred if you are so concerned. It will run your tank and other electrical devices in your home for prolong outage periods. |
