For reference purposes, I think they would be useful since they ARE in the hobby...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

Whether we like it or not, they are out there... If nothing else it lets people who are intersted in these fish know that they ARE in fact a hybrid, allowing them to make their own decisions accordingly.

i think that because many people come here to find out more about what kind of fish they can buy (many shopkeepers are not much help and can't be trusted), it is best to show all common kinds of fish available, original or hybrid.
it will reduce faulty recognition of hybrids as original species ("it MUST be some kind of fish, isn't it?", and could be used as a tool to further the understanding of what hybrid species mean, the consequences of hybrids and their mere existence.

Since the hybrids are a fish with potentially different parameters for care, personality, etc. than their parents, I would put at least the most popular ones on the profiles page so that we can have some info on them.

People should have as much information on them as possible so they can make an educated opinion about them.

No, they arent normal, so they shouldnt be on the site.

Usually hybrids are in really bad shape, and it will become more popular and everyone will have these sad distorted fish

I say no, because if we have profiles for hybrids it will probably encourage people into making/buying more of the them.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

I think there should be a section for hybrids - I think the people who get them should have info available to them.

I think they should. Hybrid fish should also be able to live in an environment where they are most comfortable, people should have access to that information! All fish should have the right to live a happy life, that's why fish profiles exists in the first place!!

I would say yes. They are actual fish, and they are actually sold, so it's worthwhile to contain information on them.

If the management feels that there's an ethical concern, then the most efficient way to communicate that is by putting it in the profile so that people can read just what's wrong with hybrids in general, or even problems with specific hybrids that are either more biologically successful or less biologically successful than average.

By leaving out profiles of hybrids, what impression will people get? They'll assume that FishProfiles is incomplete; they're not going to assume that a fish is disapproved of because it's missing from the list.

In a perfect world, no. But since people come here for reference, the known and familiar hybrids kinda do have to be given a place in the profiles.

Yes, for select hybrids like blood parrots. Not for random combinations that are the work of backyard-breeder type aquarists.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

Ultimately, this is a decision that is up to Adam, but I'm curious as to what the FP population feels. Should profiles be present on this site for hybrid fish?

I don't want this to turn into a fight about specific hybrid fish or even the existence of hybrid fish. I just want each person's opinion of whether these profiles should be present for members and guests to use for reference purposes.

Just because some people don't like them is no reason to prevent the spread of info on these fish. The more info that's out there, the better.

I agree totally, and I really don't agree with hybrids, you've got to educate people then it's up to them whether they agree or not, you can't force your own ethics on other people

Although these fish maybe controversial, I believe they deserve as good a home as any other fish, and as such, a profile of the species could be useful
