I want to make a psychadelic tank (sorry about the spelling) I never liked the glow in the dark or the flouresent stuff ie plants, gravel, ornaments. BUt i just thought it would look stunning for a 12 gallon tank to be set up like this. My question is how many of the new super (geneticly altered zebra danios) danios could fit in there. I will also put 3 corys in there. So how many danios? I was thinking 5-8?

Hmmmm, I'd say 5-6. Depends too on the size of the cories you get (and everyone is going to tell you that's not a large enough school for the cories )

Have you see the GloFish? Two lfs here carry them and IMO their coloring was very disappointing compared to their ads.

I do like the psychedelic tank idea though

I have seen them and i agree they are disappointing but what would any of you suggest. ANd my cories lived in a 3 school and they bred. So i guess they were just fine.
And i might get 4 pygmy cories. So what would look good in a psychadelic tank. Rasboras Maybe?

Harlequins would work, cardinals or neons, German rams, even a funky multi-colored male betta.

Pygmy cories are awesome

I'm workin a psychedelic tank as well, I'm thinkin of 6 neons and 4 kuhlis in a 10 gallon with black sand and plenty of neon caves/plants and some glow in the dark stuff. Those kuhlis look like something you'd see on a...well I won't say it but I think they'd look cool.

I'd have to say that I love the look of the glofish. They look wonderful under normal incandecent or your typical white florescent. A lovely deep vibrant pink.
You just need to pick out good specimens to begin with.

I would say about 6 Glofish in a 12G ONLY, if you have great filtration and good maintainance practices you could also get away with 8 of the danios.

A glofish species only tank for a 10G LONG would look beautiful and perfect for what you are trying to do.

PS: here is samples of what a good glofish will look like under your typical florescent light.

The idea I think is good, but I would NOT recommend keeping neons, rasboras, or a male betta. The only fish I recommend are large tetras, large rainbows, gouramis and bottom feeders. These fish couldn't fit in that size tank.

You MUST have at least 6 cories if you go with a small species such as the pygmy cory. They are even more social than the larger cories.

I'd go with 6 pygmy cories and 6 glofish. Alternatively, you could get shrimp and snails for cleanup crew and then you could get quite a few glofish.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

just a thought...why would u need a clean up crew with danios? they eat anything and everything. If you want cories just because they're cool then yeah I'd make sure they have enough buddies.
