You could always telephone your nearest branch of maidenhead Aquatics - this is a big fish supply chain that has branches all over the UK, so you should be able to find a branch close by if you're anywhere near Birmingham, Coventry or Wolverhampton. In fact, their website has a map allowing you to find the nearest branch.

Here's their website.

My local branch (the one in Bold Heath near Widnes, which is run by one of our aquarist society members) has quite a variety of fish species - I was told by Paul Dixon, the manager, that they were low on Rift Lake Cichlids because they only had 40 species when I called in ...

If they don't have the fish you want in stock, they can usually get in a special order.

Also, check out the Practical Fishkeeping website, which maintains a list of fish dealers all over the UK, and lists their specialities too.

Practical Fishkeeping Website

That website has a fish shop finder allowing you to find a fish shop by county ... the database is regularly updated too.

cheers

i went on www.thinkfish.com

i've found a new LFS that has opened about 15 mintues away, it is a fantastic place, loads rare fish, L numbers and African cichlids.

and not bad prices.

they have dwarf cockatoos, but the males are much bigger then mine nearly twice, and a completely differnt colour does this mean i haven't got a cockatoo or have they labeled them wrong, or can they come in different colours,

mine has dark body with stripe down the middle with orange tail

LFS are lighter body, same line but bright red fins and tail, the females look yellow in colour!

You'll need to add this place to your bookmarks:

Apistogramma & Related Dwarf Cichlids

There you'll find photos of different colour morphs of cactuoides, including "Orange Flash" and "Triple Red", and the ones that you describe from your LFS sound like the "Orange Flash" variety.

Photo links cacatuoides colour morphs:

"Orange Flash"

"Triple Red"

"Yellow Gold"
