All right! Here is a situation.

I'm almost done with my fishless cycle right now with my 10 gal planted tank.

Now, ammonia is almost 0 ppm, nitrite was almost zero and then increased a little bit (like .25ppm), and nitrate is really high like 80 ppm!

Also, my pH is 6.2. (I didn't do anything, even like putting a bogwood, but pH got lowered... i wonder)

i'm constantly adding ammonia., and i think the cycle will be ended by tomorrow.

Anyway, my question is that after the ammonia and nitrite become 0, do i do big water change right away? And after a while, can i add my fish? Does that water change gonna lower the high nitrate?

Not a big water change, but maybe a 25% and do that 2 times in a week's time and keep adding the ammonia. Yes that should lower your nitrate. As long as there are no signs of nitrite or ammonia, you can add fish basically as soon as you are in the clear with the nitrate.

Since there are no fish in the tank to stress out yet, big water changes aren't going to have a negative impact. Once the tank is cycled, I would change enough of the water to bring the nitrates down to acceptable level and then acclimate the fish, as long as you matched the water temp so you're not acclimating the fish to a temperature that's going to be changing. I would do this in the same day, since you'll be removing ammonia in the water change you'll want to have those fish take over the job shortly after.

Doing it how Robofish says is perfectly fine too.

Alright! Thx a lot.

Finally my freaking cycle is done.

My ammonia and nitrite is zero. ]

I'm so happy that it's finally done.

Anyway, so i'm gonna do a big water change to lower that nitrate, and i'm going to finally visit LFS and get some fish.

Congradulations, I'm almost finished with my cycle too, so I understand your excitement.
