The benefit of RO water is that it is extremely pure. All of the nasty chemicals and spores and whatnot are removed. On the other hand, the drawback of RO water is that it is extremely pure, so all of the beneficial minerals and other nice things are removed. For people who use RO water in WCs, it is standard practice to either use a ratio of RO:tap water or to add some sort of water-altering chemical to suit the fish they are keeping(like blackwater extract for Amazonian fish, or some sort of cichlid formula) to replace the compounds removed. |
