| Ram breeding behaviour? | |
Tetra Fan![]() ![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1203 Kudos: 1081 Votes: 63 Registered: 11-Apr-2004 ![]() | I just got a male Bolivian Ram the other day and he has been in hiding for a few days, but has now decided to come out of hiding (along with my shy female ram) The male chases everything from both females to my panda cory's around. He has colored up a bit and got a deeper yellow coloring, and my females have gained lots of grayish coloring. All 3 of them are also swimming around the tank picking up sand. Not in any particular spot though. Could this be breeding behaviour? I sure hope it is, because it would be the first time I have come close to breeding any species of fish Thanks![]() [span class="edited"][Edited by Tetra Fan 2004-07-31 20:29][/span] |

Try this site: http://www.aquarticles.com/articles/breeding/Grenfell_M_altispinosa.html Make sure you have at least one flat rock somewhere in your tank! Let us know how the breeding goes. ![]() |

Is this normal breeding behaviour? [span class="edited"][Edited by Tetra Fan 2004-08-01 13:22][/span] |

The females should color up, not wash out, and lip-locking is a territorial behavior. How many do you have, and what size tank? They spawn on flat rocks, guard the eggs, and then the fry after hatching. The Anglefish will devour the fry if you don't remove them. Rams do best at parenting if they have their own tank. Good luck, and keep trying. |

They got intense yellow and some pink in there dorsal fins. They are in a 29 gallon with some tetras (cardinals and glowlights) also, where did you see I had an angelfish in there? I don't have any angelfish And only the females fight and it's whenever the male is near. |
