Due to resent disaster involveing saftey trip & holliday I now find myself restocking my tank this time instead of a limited amount of large fish I intend to stock with a mixture of small/medium size fish.Due to position of tank in the summer months one corner tends to get a lot of sunlight which appears to ecourage alge growth this was kept in check before by the large plec that was in the tank I do not want such a large growing fish this time round so can anybody suggest a sutible alge eating fish that does not grow to much more than say 6 inches I realise that I will undouptle require more than one or maybe combination of fish.

Small school of ottos or siamese algae eaters would work quite well.

Any chance of blocking some of the light ?

A school of otos, siamese algae eaters or 2 bristle-nose catfish.

bristlenose plecs will eat algae all their lives. there are around 25 to 30 different Ancistrus (bristlenose) species and most won't grow larger than 6". there is plenty of variety, but personally starlight and albinos are my favorites.
