First off, there's no need to have the male in there at all - if the female has ever been housed with males, she's pregnant. Just wait until she goes very boxy with a big gravid spot and she'll be ready to pop. She could have between 15-80 fry, which she'll be happy to chase down and eat, so plant heavily (real or fake, real is preferred). Remove her as soon as she's done having them and the tank should be a good fry tank. Of course, she'll just be having more every 25-28 days, more and more and more and more and more, so you may want to reconsider saving them all! EDIT: And yes, feed her. If yes, she's pregnant - no breeding time required. I should warn you, breeding guppies, unless you start out with spectacular stock, isn't that fun - no one wants to take the fry. Generally one's lucky if the LFS will take them and sell them as feeders. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |

Guppies do not need to be bred in a seperate tank. Just toss a male and female in a suitably sized tank for the number you want to keep. Make some places for fry to hide. Java moss makes a good fry hiding plant. Feed them normally and you will have fry. But as it was said before you need high quality stock. Guppies are so easy to breed everyone is trying to get rid of some. Try reposting on your original threads before you start new ones. You are likely to get the same answers over again. |
