I like to push the limits as well, but I think you have gone over. Even with a really powerful filter and weekly maintance I can't see how it could work. How long has this tank been set up?

Me personally, I would only put the 3 plattys in there.

A 10G isn't that much specially after you put in all the substrate, decorations, filtration etc. You'll also typically have less problems if you are understocked instead of overstocked, health wise. So keep that in mind. Good for your wallet and good for your fisheries

Female platies will grow to 3" standard length (I've seen them that size on several occasions). If you brought the platies back to the LFS, then you tank should be fine.

I would either find a new home for the Platties or take them back to the LFS. Also i would buy 2 more Ottos.

you never mentioned an algae eater.... And since we didn't know it was in there in the first place, now that it's gone, the tank is still over stocked.

also... my light blew out 2 days ago...now i only have one. I don't know how bad this is for the fish, but i will get one asap. I will definately take back the platies because now one of my neons is dying. oh crimony.
