hi

ive got a 57.5 us sized tank (216 litre), with a decent sized stock and i want to increase a few schools.

current stock:

1, bn
2, sae's
11, black phantoms. 1 i got for free.
6, peppered corys
1, angel
1, whiptail catfish ( 99% sure its a rineloricaria caracasensis)

1, rainbow shark
2, swordtails
3, black ruby barbs
4 danio choprae

My plan is to get a few more swords and danios. Might get 2 bolivian rams just to finally finish of my tank. fairly sure i could do it safely but would like some more experianced input. if any one reckons i could put anything else in, always open to suggestions.

cheers all.

You can add more Danios, Barbs & Corydoras from the same species but i would remove the 2 SAE.

thanks for the response jase.
can i ask why i should remove the sams. if its the combination of the sams and the rainbow shark your concerned about the shark only gives chase during feeding and that is only in very short bursts. if it isnt please say anyways cheers.

i would have to agree with the first post and say remove the SAE
1) because when mature the rainbow will not like the SAEs and he will try and kill them
2) SAE can be very nasty themselfs and injure other fish, mainly your angel they like to suck on the sides of fish like angels.

yours could be ok just most of the time the above happens.

i would leave you stock as is - maybe incease the corys and danios, if you get more swords you could end up over run, saying that your angel would most probably eat the fry.

Let's see:

1, bn = 4 inches
2, sae's = 2 x 6 = 12 inches
11, black phantoms. 1 i got for free. = 11 x 1.4 = 16 inches
6, peppered corys = 6 x 2.8 = 16.8 inches
1, angel = 6 inches
1, whiptail catfish ( 99% sure its a rineloricaria caracasensis) = 6 inches

1, rainbow shark = 6 inches
2, swordtails = 2 x 4 = 8 inches
3, black ruby barbs = 3 x 2.4 = 7 inches
4 danio choprae = 4 x 1.5 = 6 inches

TOTAL = 88 inches of fish, when all are grown up.

I am not implying that you cannot do this or cannot do that, but this is, IMHO, not a "decent sized stock" as of right now, not to mention if you intend to add even more fish.

Just my opinion,

The SAE will chase the fish when they'll get bigger & yes, they'll try to suck on you slow moving fish aswell & you'll be removing 12 inches of fish from your stocked tank.
