| Should I combine these two tanks? | |
Phishy![]() Fingerling Posts: 18 Kudos: 4 Votes: 0 Registered: 06-Aug-2003 ![]() | I have a question about fish compatibility. I have two tanks that I am thinking of combining into one larger tank (possibly 60g to 75 g). My 20g tank contains two angels(one medium, one large),one small discus, and one gourami(2 inches long). My 30g tank contains three parrot fish (the largest is about 4 inches long, the smallest is about 2 inches long), 2 Blue Acaras (2 inches long each), 3 tiger barbs, and 1 catfish (5 inches long). My concern is with the interaction between the parrots and the fish from the other tank. Has anyone had experience with parrots and angel fish together in one tank? I'd appreciate some help with this. Thanks! |

I know they can get up to 9 inches, most seem to stay in the 6 in range. Make sure there's a lot of caves/hidey holes for the bp's. I'd go with at least the 75 gal since you were considering that anyway. I have read of several people having luck w/ bp's and angels.(I don't know the minimum tank size for angels though). It really depends on the bp's personality. I've heard of some that won't tolerate anything else in the tank, & some that get along great with neons. I wouldn't mix the discus & tiger barbs in, discus need pristine water quality. The tb's I'd be afraid would terrorize the angels. What kind of catfish do you have? |

Phishy![]() Fingerling Posts: 18 Kudos: 4 Votes: 0 Registered: 06-Aug-2003 ![]() | The comment about the insides of the fish growing but not the outside . . . Is this true? I always have heard that the fish will grow to fit the parameters of the tank that they are in, but have never heard of the insides growing and not the outsides. It doesn't seem logical to me. |

I am not sure if there is scientific evidence but maybe someone could enlighten us if there is or not. http://www.greenspersonalprinting.com/ |
