Natalie, you might find this page amusing ...

FishIndex page on Exodon paradoxus

This page claims that they reach 7 inches!

It also has the distribution TOTALLY wrong - it locates this South American Amazonian Characin in Afghanistan of all places!

This page on the other hand is nearer the mark. It has the correct distribution, and quotes the maximum size of wild caught fishes correctly. Some specimens CAN reach that size (12.5 cm) in an aquarium if it is large enough, but 3 inches is more likely due to space constraints - not everyone is capable of putting a big shoal of these in a 300 gallon aquarium and letting them grow properly that way!

Apparently the unusual projecting teeth possessed by the species are an adaptation to eating well-armoured insects that fall into the water. These fishes can be fed live crickets of all things - which will be dismantled in pretty short order!

Mind you, ALL the sites agree on one thing - they've vicious.

Exodons can reach 4"+, tops, give or a take a bit...and if they are potential p-centro tankmate fodder, then you know these fellows can take care of themselves.

I'd go with either smallish killies or sparkling gouramis with small schooling fish.
