I know this has been covered many times but I have a snail problem and nothing seems to get rid of them. The lettuce trick isnt really effective for me, and I have never tried the penny trick and I was wondering how effective that is. I haven't tried any chemicals at all since i dont like adding chemicals into my tank. What can i do? I also have a big problem with hair algae on plants. Its the shorter kind that just wont stop. I limited how long my lights are on to 10 hours. What can i do about this?

The best, most effective way to remove snails is with a snail eating fish The size and other inhabitants of the tank will determine if/what kind of snail eater you can have.

Also a true siamese algae eater will munch that black stuff right up

Well its a 32 gallon, and I already have 3 ottos in there so I dont think id like a siamese algae eater in there. What kind of snail eating fish would you recommend? I already have 6 cardinals, 6 black neons, 5 danios, an angel fish, 6 cories and 3 ottos, and i think I have reached a reasonable load in the tank already.

Maybe you can get a Clown or Yoyo Loach & than take him back after doing the job, or try the copper method, like i'm doing in one of my tanks.
