Farlowella acus will gobble up snails

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

Zebra loaches, queen loaches, yo yo loaches. These dont get very big. My zebras are about 1 1/2 inches and do a good job with snails.

If you can't find yo yo loaches at your lfs!

try dwarf chain loaches (botia sidthimunki)
They are extremely peaceful and grow to about 5.5cm (2.1in)
Keep them in a shoal of atleast 4.
They will eat almost anyprepared foods,
and water quality is not to critical.:88)

I have three weather (dojo) loaches in my 55 and they do seem to do an adequate job of keeping the snail population under control.

McFat, the scientific name for Yo Yo loaches is Botia lohachata. Another common name is the Pakistan loach. Check with your lfs for these names.

The name Yo Yo loach, does come from the pattern of their strips, but to be more specific, it comes more from the pattern as young fish and large fry. On the younger fish, the black lines are more striped down the side of the body, with them splitting near the top of the fish, resembling a "Y". In their native lands of India, their common name is the "Y" loach. So from there, they soon became the yo yo loach. As the fish matures and grows, the pattern becomes more skribbled than lines.

HTH......

Hi..i think most of the loaches like to eat snails.
here you have some of them.
1)Clown loach
2)skunk loach (Botia horae)
-------------------------------
3)The upsidedown catfish
4)puffers (tetraodon species)
5)Malawi Cichlids
These fish will happily dine on your snails

I know human beings and fish can co-exist peacefully.

Definitly loaches, yo-yo or dwarf chain loach. Get about 3 of the one you pick. If you have enough snail and they eat em you may not have to feed them that often put do make sure they eat something else sides escargot.

Honostly, YoYo's can be very peacefull, or they can be really nippy.

If your tank isnt overstocked, i would get 3 YoYo's (or more) it will make agression WAY lower, since they are in a group.

I just used a simple zebra loach. Just one cleaned the tank. 'course, I'm gonna buy him some buddies soon.... but yeah, any loaches seem to work great.

I also had a betta who commited absolute homicide on snails... very interesting to see!
