Ok so i want to start another tank, and i def want catfish, and would like cichlids as well. THe thing is i dont know if these two will go together cause i know cichlids tend to be agressive. DOes anyone know two breeds that will get along?

Hi Drew, and welcome to the site.

What types of cichlids and/or catfish are you wanting, as there are many, many to choose from?

Do you want African rift lake cichlids or are you wanting South American varieties?

As your tank is a 30 gallon, then I'm assuming you will need to stay with some of the smaller varieties.

There are numerous catfish than can go in these tanks, but what are your likes and dislikes?

You posed a very broad question so if you can narrow it down a bit then there will be plenty of folks here who can offer suggestions.

thanks for the reply. The thing about the broadness of the question, is that im up for any suggestions i like all catfish and cichlids, but dont have any due to my current tank only being 10gal. I want to know two specias that will really get along, and cause no problems.

Well you could have both, plus a few more fish.

In a 30g, you could have 1 or 2 schools of fish, plus some smaller cories for the bottom, and a pair of German or Bolivian rams or Apistos. Rams and Apistos are peaceful cichlids that work well in a community tank.

And cories are my favorite catfish!
