I have finally finished stocking my 140 gallon tank. Yeah!!!!!

I now have

4 guppies
10 black neon tetras
8 female bettas
11 angelfish
2 swordtails
2 black dotty plecos
4 ghost knives (2 7 inch, 2 4 inch)
1 yoyo loach
1 clown loach
1 burmese loach

The tank will be slightly overstocked when taking into account final adult sizes, but I plan on making it a species only tank in a couple years, but I plan on making it a species only tank. I plan on trying to breed BGKs!!!!
Thanks for everyone's advice with stocking and setting up my tank! You guys are awesome!!!

Loaches like friends. So I would add more of each type. Try to get the numbers to atleast 4 of each type.

Wow...11 angels. Even in a 140g, it seems the tank will look crowded to me. But, other than that, everything looks good.

I would get rid of a few angels and add another type of schooling fish...but that's just me.

The Ghost Knifes and the Angels will get to be HUGE. Bolth of which may eat your neons, possibly the guppies. I also would be worried about the female bettas. Bettas are nippy, and will nip the guppies and the angels. I think your stocking seems a little scattered. I'd try either the live bearers or the larger fish. If you were to keep all those fish, there would be trouble later on, plus you wont be a little overstocked, youd be WAY overstocked. Going by the 1inch per gal rule you are at 186 inches, minus the plecos, since Im unable to find any info on them (do you know the scientific name?) Im not trying to be mean or anything, but I don't think your tank will work out in the long run.

If you want to do livebearers/small fish:
4-10 guppies
10-20 Neons
4-10 Swords
6 yoyo loaches
6 Burimese Loaches
= about 130 inchs
If you want to keep the larger fish:
6x Angelfish (get to be 6", aggressive if they decide to pair off)
4x Ghost Knifes (get to be 19" each)
3x Clown Loaches (get to be almost a foot each)
= 148 inches

Inky

thanks for your responses!!!
you're response didn't sound mean, it showed concerned and any aquarist always wants feed back to ensure their fish are getting the best care possible. my stocking choices are quite eccletic and your concerns were justify. i realize that the angels and ghost knives get huge, in fact one of my angels is 6 inches already. i have a mix of livebearers as a food source. i realize my tank is overstocked, but it will take some time for my BGKS to get bigger and by that time, the tetras, swords and bettas will have all died out (from natural causes, not fish food!!) i keep my ghost knives happily fed and have only lost one guppy in three months. as for the bettas, mine are quite docile and they have nnot nipped the angels at all, in fact, five of them have started schooling with the angels. however, if i ever find some fish to be a problem, i am a member of an aquatic association and will be able to find homes for any unwanted fish and know they will be taken by people who will care for them properly. sorry if this post sounds rude, i don't mean it to be. i really appreciated your concern. people on this forum are so knowleagable, it is a great ressource of information!!!

thanks again,

amanda

as for the plecos, i haven't been able to find out much about them either, they have spots all over, including their eyes and their body is almost a marble of browns... the LFS said they shouldn't get any bigger than 10 inches

and the loaches all school together as well, i like clowns, but only the one was available

Spots all over. Could that be a common or Sailfin? They're the ones usually held in shops.
