Betta, dwarf puffers, killifish, maybe a shellie or two. There are, of course, less obvious choices. You could make an all shrimp tank or an all snail tank. Joe Potato ![]() |

We also have a 20L empty on a stand doing nothing yet. We are waiting until we remove the carpet and put down some wood (last room downstairs with carpet). As I wanted to make that a cichlid tank it may be an idea to start that one then just move a pair? I am sure I could fill that tank with fish that would be compatible with them. But I will save the 20L for a different thread The bumble is a nice idea, would a pair be OK in the 5G. |

You could go brackish or FW, depending on how they're kept at the lfs. Very cool little fish Theresa_M attached this image: ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

IME a pair of brevis often maintains a territory so small that they avoid several inches of a 5-gal even when they're the only residents, and they're not exactly active swimmers that need the space to move. I wouldn't just throw any two brevis in there, but if you have a 10 running briefly at home you can raise 6 juvies until a pair forms and sell the rest, or buy a known pair. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |

But I will look it up right now ![]() Guppies are also an option, but I have platty fry in my 55 and my 10 so I don't think I need more of those. But if I put in 3 males (maybe 4) that would spread the load but increase water changes. Any more one? How about some ideas the shell dwellers other then multies? |
johnnylaw1984![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enthusiast Posts: 158 Kudos: 168 Votes: 19 Registered: 27-Sep-2004 ![]() | three guppies would work, 1 male, and 2 femals, you might even get lucky nad have some babies in no time |
littlemousling![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Conchiform Posts: 5230 Registered: 23-Aug-2003 ![]() | In most cases that works; occasionally people have trouble with male guppies nipping each other. I'd go with three or four, though. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |
SJinNJ![]() Fish Addict Posts: 568 Kudos: 447 Votes: 16 Registered: 21-May-2003 ![]() | Not sure if this would work, so overrule me if this isn't feasable. But what about 2 male guppies? |
littlemousling![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Conchiform Posts: 5230 Registered: 23-Aug-2003 ![]() | Or H. formosa, the females are as pretty as the males and they're so tiny you could literally have 30+ in there (and I say that as a conservative stocker). -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |

Endler's are another option...small and you could go with all males for their great color. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

I'd suggest having two shellies, because they are very interesting fish. Plus, they're some of the few cichlids (besides multis, of course) that will fit in a five gallon. I think the shell-dwellers would be great in that tank. |

Heater, Filter and Light. Puffers? Maybe some Multies? Killi? This little tank sits on my desk and is now empty. Its already seen a betta or 2 and I don't want to get another one, save for our single female in a 10G mixed we have had betta luck. |
rewd![]() Big Fish Posts: 351 Votes: 0 Registered: 29-Aug-2003 ![]() | I really like the killi idea. I had guppies in my 5.5g for a while but they overstock it too fast with their livebearer ways. Of course, maybe three males would work. I had three A. Australe killis in my 5.5 until a few weeks ago my male completely disappeared. Apparently killi's are good jumpers so watch out. Shame cause he was an awesome fish. |

My bees were bought from a store that keeps them in FW. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |
devon7![]() Big Fish Posts: 475 Kudos: 356 Votes: 4 Registered: 31-Aug-2004 ![]() | but in a 5 gallon tank? seems cramped, but i like the idea of 2 bees and a puffer. so thats stil my vote. but i also like the shellies idea hmmm... hehehe can you mix shellies and puffers or would that be horrible? |

My wife and I were in NC and did find some brevis but they didn't have any O2 so we didn't want to risk the long drive. So we are back in the Atlanta area and are thinking about going into buckhead to fish and more for a look around. Unless anyone has another store to suggest? I think I may start that as a whole new question about atlanta area stores |

Thanks for all the suggestions-we would have never thought about them. Beth, voodooatl's wife |
