I've had a 20 gallon going for quite a while now, probably 2 1/2 years.I had a goldfish in there for a while, but he was getting big so I returned him and this is what's in there now;

6 black phantom tetras
3 milini cories
1 sailfin pleco (I think I'll be returning him soon as he is getting to be about 4 inches)

I've got a penguin 125 for filtration, temp is 77 degrees Fahrenheit and the PH is about 7.5.I've been doing 1/3 water changes every two weeks and vacuum the gravel once a month. The tetras seem to be very clean as there is very little debris when I vacuum.

My water changes seem to be spaced out a little more than others I've been reading about here, but the water tests out okay and is very clear and there is no odor.

Is there something else I can put in there without overstocking? Or should I put a couple more tetras in there and call it good? Is there another type of pleco that won't outgrow my 20?

Thanks

Mike

People are going to be telling you to get 3 more cories and that's probably going to be all the 20 will handle. But if you were to step up the water changes and gravel vacs I'd bet you could squeeze in a Ram or two.

I'd get rid of the pleco and get a couple Ottos.

Your school of tetras is a good size. I personally don't have a problem with three cories but you probably would see more activity with a larger school of them. As far as plecs, a BN will get to 4-5", pitbulls are 2-3". Or you could have a small group of otos.

Depending on what you decide for your bottom feeders, other options would be the rams that were mentioned, a dwarf gourami, or maybe a pair of cherry barbs.

Add three of the same cories, and then add a betta or a dwarf gourami. They will give you some activity up top, and add color.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."
