I was wondering how long you can store brine shrimp eggs? I am going to try to breed some German Blue Rams in a month or two once my 20 gallon is empty and wanted to know. It is cheaper to buy them in bulk and I was wondering if this would effect the quality because some of them wouldn't be used immediately. Read and reply .

Pop them in an airtight container in the fridge. I know some people freeze them too, with good results, but I would be concerned about freezer burn.

Another alternative might be to try to track down some other species , fairy shrimp. You can buy the eggs dried in kits, and potentially they have a dry storage time of up to 50 years ! They make perfectly good fishfood, with some species given a little time growing a great deal bigger than brineshrimp, making for meaty meals for bigger fish.

When I got my pack of brine shrimp eggs (about 8 oz), I took about 1 oz into a small air-tight container. Then I resealed the main pack carefully and put them both into the freezer. When I finished using the bbs eggs in the small container, I repeated the process. After 6 month of doing this, I do not notice any degradation of the bbs hatching.

If you have enough number of small air-tight containers, you can re-pack you bbs eggs to them all at once. This eliminates the cumbersome process of resealling, and the reduce the chances of getting water vapour into the package - which is crucial to keep the eggs fresh.

Thanks guys. I'll store it in batches in airtight containers and keep them in my fridge until I need some.
