Hi all,
Just wondering for anyone who has bred sailfin mollies, How often do they have fry, and do they have fry at all???
I bought a pair of Sailfins for my boyfriend as a gift about 3 months ago. They are full grown, large, healthy, a male and female matching orange pair. They breed like they are guppies (well maybe not that much ), and so far, my female doesnt even have a gravid spot I can see.
No fry, no pregnancy, not even a glimmer in her eyes!
Is it possible one of these fish is sterile? Either her or him? Is there any way to tell or will time tell?
He doesnt overly harrass her, not like a guppy dude, but I have wondered if perhaps adding another trio (1 male 2 more females) would perhaps spur them on, or show whether one is sterile.
Any ideas? Anything? I would really like to hear the flipper flapper of little sailfins!

Hmmm you definately say they are one of each? i would maybe get another 2 females then he got more of a choice than just having the one. Maybe she just aint bothered!!! I just bought a pai of sailfin mollies black and orange marbled, the male haressed my female to death overnight for abit of nooky so i went back to the shop and bought 2 females and now they go round in a trio :-) so hopefully i get flipper flapper of sailfins shortly!!!
