Okay everybody. I am always looking to improve the lives and housings of my bettas. I am looking for a mini heater to heat 1-2 gallons of water only. I hope to find an inexpensive one as well, because I am looking at buying 8 of these.

The smallest heater I have seen is for tanks of around three gallons (I think). These heaters are fifty watts, [link=here]http://aquariumpros.com/aquaprostore/prods/EBO19050.shtml" style="COLOR: #808080[/link] is an example.

25 watts should be fine, but try it out WITHOUT the fish in the tank first

anyway, big als has em, they're great little submersible things:

Wal-Mart sells a 'junior' heater, I believe it's for tanks 1g to 5g. I have one but don't use it anymore...it's basically on/off with no temperature control and I was concerned about cooking my fish

There are lots of relatively inexpensive 25 watt heaters, but I haven't yet seen one with the temperature dial on it. So I don't trust them. I have a Visitherm 25 watt and an All-Glass 25 watt on my two betta tanks, because the tanks were dropping so low at night it was scary.

i dont suggest the heater Theresa is talking about, she has good reason not to trust it. i bought two of those from wal-mart. neither of them could hold a constant temp. in a 2g.

I use 25s, but only in 6L or over.

Why not use an old waterbed heater? make a platform for it, insulate it, and voila! instant heat for all your bowls

the reptile undertank heater aswell as some under tank heaters for hermit crabs have been used by nano reefers to good effect. check up on some of the nano reefer sites on how they do this. they have been working with under a gallon nano reefs also.

I have a seeding mat. These are for seedlings, you might try a seed or plant store, I found mine at wal mart. It is a mat that is 2 feet by 4 feet and has a minimal heater but it keeps bettas at around 78 degrees. I have used it for two winters with no problems

I have one of these in each of my betta tanks (all 2.5G) and they work great. Two are by a drafty window and the temp always remains at a constant 78. It might waver by a degree or so now and then but that doesn't worry me at all.
