I move my stuff around too. I wonder if the fish appreciate the work?....I wonder if they think they have moved on to another area of the lake or river?

My betta does great in my 15G with plants. He made his bed out of those plants I never had a problem with betta eating my plants. Everyone lived happily together for about 1 month then suddenly the betta started to pick on my guppies. Maybe I should try to reintroduce him back to the 15G, see if the picking stops. I'm sure he will love it.

Hehe...I always see guppies picking on bettas, not the other way around. How does bettas do with a tank with plants? I just know that the bettas love eatting the baby guppies...but do they eat plants?

thanks a lot guys!
Steve, how did you know my name? I can't remember I ever told you that.
Oh well, nice to have someone that knows me.
Call me Jimmy. 99% of people at school call me Jimmy.

The betta used to live outside with everyone else, then one day i noticed that he's being picking on my guppies so i sentenced him to solitary confinement

I *love* the picture of your betta looking at you staight on!!!

It looks pretty good so far are you going to add more light? It seems quiet dark ... or maybe it's just me .... I think you should add some driftwood, and maybe make your rock stack bigger ... if you get a sword, make sure your light is stronger! Good luck!!

the result looks great, i love it and so do my parents
click on the www to see the final picture (2 hrs after the setup so the water is bit muddy)

for the back ground, i was thinking about moving all the ferns to the side a bit, and add a nice big amazon sword.
what do you guys think?

James, I think your like me...hehe

Well, sort off...hehe. About 3 hours ago i was bored...so i desided to prun my plants as well as replant the new cuttings. The stuff in the gravel made the water dirty but at least it will take the val and Elodea like 2 weeks to reach the surface of the water But, I just feel sorry for my the fish because they are swimming and drinking their own stuff! But, after all the tank does look nice and neat.

Hope to see the new pics James.

I like to move stuff and make it a lil different, but i always keep the fish in the tank. It's kinda hard now, since all my plants have taken very nice root :-'

It's school holidays so i'm kind of bored at home, so i decided to take my tank apart and put it together again (everything except the glass bitand the stand) And i'm even more bored to write down my procedures here. So if any of you guys are bored, you can have a read.

1) Took all the plants out (i started with 4 species and now ended up with half a tank full of plants)

2) Took all decorations like rocks or slats (not many, thank god they didn't reproduce like my plants)

3) This is the fun part........ Netting all the fish out and put them in a container (15G of fish in 15L)

4) Stir up the gravel as much as i possibily could.

5) That what i got to so far, wait for the filter to suck up all the dirty things i stired up.

I can't keep my plants looking the same for any longer than a month either. After a month I have to move these over there, take those out completely and put in different tank, buy something for that corner over there, etc. I was hoping one day soon It'd be setup and I'd have that " Ok, now it's DONE." feeling, but it hasn't happened yet.

I do that about once a month ...

I find it fun just to redo everything. It also gives me some time alone. If I could find my camera (dad took it ]:|) I'd takes pics and ask for some help ...

I want to see pictures of your newly done tank!!!!!

Sounds fun!

I did the same thing when I switched all artificial things in my tank (fake plants, fake logs, etc.) to natural things (real plants, real driftwood, rocks, etc.).

It was both fun and tedious while doing it, but in the end it was very rewarding.

think it's like more than half a year since i last did something like that. and i can't clean the part occupied by plants

6) Reorganised the gravels so i can plant more on one side without having the plants float up every now and then

7) Replanted the plants. Look much better than before. (I'll post the pics later)

8) Reintroduce the fish (temperature is kept constant in the container)

9) Watch as the fish re-explore the new environment

10) Sit and relax and wait for my parent's reaction.

I did that with my 29g when I went from fake plants to real. When everything was done and looking good I felt great. But midway through the project I kept saying 'where did I get this dumb idea?'

But at least your idea had a purpose :%)

Why didn't you just do a gravel vac and save your fish and yourself the stress?

you must be a masochist......that and you must enjoy going to the dentist for root canals......

Can't say that I didn't spend the weekend inside my tanks also out of boredom...but luckily I didn't decide to do a total knock down...

Hope the boredom has ended....
