what do we get if we win?

The pride and joy of a job well done, the opportunity to have your tank teach others about quality aquascaping FP.com style...and possibly an award...that however depends on Master Adam and Super Lindy our lovely site admins .

Since I don't recall winning anything with that photo, I guess I can use it then. Or try and snaffle a digi cam from a friend

Calilasseia,
The fish really don't matter, it's more about the design of the tank. As for old prints....I understand that not everyone has easy access to a digital camera. I can also appreaciate how slow getting prints and digital images from prints can be. While I'd prefer a current picture, March of 2004 isn't all that old....I think that any picture from the past year will work....I do not want people digging thru their old photo albums looking for the great aquascape they had back in 1984.

However, as a general rule, pictures that have been submitted and won in a catagory in any of the past contests shouldn't be submitted. In that case I'd prefer a new photograph.

I have a pic taken in March 2004 of my aquarium, but it's now July. And, the plants have grown a bit since it was taken. Since my camera is 35mm film, and turnaround for prints is a bit leisurely, can I submit the March pic?

Little else has changed, fish are still the same, apart from 3 more Otocinclus.

This betta bowl has rocks and one plant. I guess that goes in planted then (But then again the fish and plant are both SE Asian so maybe I can fit it in themed... I guess if there aren't really many submissions it doesn't matter that much - but I imagine with Babel running this there will be...)

EDIT: Oh yeah, I was just worried people would see my betta and say there's something wrong with him when really he's just getting on in years.

I wonder if anyone minds that my betta is over three years old and showing his age...

Mind?, why of course not!...an aquascaping contest isn't about the fish @all.

Betta, and other small tanks go wherever you feel they belong. If it's a planted tank, then planted, rock or wood then non planted, if it's got a special theme then themed tanks.

So betta bowls will be in themed? Maybe I should photograph mine... I think I won't have so much trouble with that. I wonder if anyone minds that my betta is over three years old and showing his age...

Freshwater non-planted is the main design is in the rock sector and the plants are the additives, Freshwater planted if the rocks are just details that add to the plants. Up to you. (Or, that's my interpretation).

Will there be different sections for different tank sizes?

No, @this time there are no plans for different sized tanks. While I know that many forums, associations, and clubs have catagories for small, medium, and large tanks, there haven't been enough entries in the past to even keep some of the catagories. You'll notice that betta bowls have beeen removed, they will now be included in "theme" tanks or their respective planted or non planted catagories.

can i submit my LFS's South-American/Stingray

No you may not . Each entry must be your own tank.

congrats on the camera bensaf, hope it works out well...here are some tips for taking pictures if you (or anyone) needs them. These are some of the more common problems that people have when trying to photograph tanks.

Keep up the good work ReikoX .
