Has personality, i.e. doesn't just swim around aimlessly 3. Won't eat fry if some are introduced. I hope this isn't asking too much. |

They have personality, and are neat fish. |

Like babel said, Multis would be good, so would brevis. These unique cichlids have some special needs, so I suggest you read Mez's article]http://www.fishprofiles.com/articles/freshwater/shelldwellers/[/link] on them if you've never kept them before. When I have the time/money, I'm thinking of making a ten gallon shellie set up, for my set up ideas, click [link=here HTH ![]() ~FF~ [span class="edited"][Edited by ferretfanatic 2004-08-23 12:28][/span] -Formerly known as the Ferretfish ![]() |

The fry that I might be adding would be l. ocellatus fry from my 20g. I thought about something like guppies, but they seem like the type that just swim around aimlessly and after watching shell dwellers interact, I'm starting to lean towards fish with personality over fish with bright colours. Would a colony of multies allow ocellatus fry to grow up in their tank? If so that would be a nice option. |

However, a trio of multis would most likely be safe, just watch them as they start to produce fry of their own. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com! |

Does anything else come to mind other than shell dwellers? Note: I don't alter my water at all for my tangs b/c the pH & hardness suit them fine. Most of the fish in the stores around here do fine in our water w/o having to make any adjustments, with the exception of more sensitive fish such as blue rams.
