I'm helping my brother out with his first fish tank and when we got it started i put in stress coat. One day later the water was not clear it was foggy and milky. We had the water filter on for 3 days before hand and i was wondering if the stress coat caused this problem and if i clean out his tank will the problem be solved? It is a 15 gallon tank with 3 tiger barbs. Any advice would be great thanks. |

Did you go by the directions on the bottle? If you did, then I doubt that is your problem. How long have the fish been in the tank? |

Most of the time people on this site are very helpful and don't mind helping even if it seems like the simplest question to them because that after all is how they learnt in the first place. You do get the odd person who thinks its funny that they have already learnt it all and some are just beginning to learn but maybe they should think back to when they were just learning and how they would feel if someone was rude and un caring to them (just think on) You ask as many questions as you like no matter how silly you might think they are because they may mean a matter of life or death to your fish and just take the advise of those who are kind enough to help and blank out those who think they are clever by taking the p*** [span class="edited"][Edited by tessa38uk 2004-07-02 10:08][/span] http://www.greenspersonalprinting.com/ |

As far as i know and have read tiger barbs are schooling fish and should be kept in a group of at least 6 from what i gather as well they can be quite nasty at times so should really only be kept with other fish that are hardy rather than small fish such as the smaller tetras or any timid fish. I hope i am corrrect but as i say if i am not some one will be along shortly to correct me. Hope this helps http://www.greenspersonalprinting.com/ |

If you have the room, a larger school is always better. Especially with nippy fish such as the Tiger Barb. If you only keep a few, the nipping will most likely be spread to other species in the tank. But if you have a large group, the nipping will mostly be kept within its own group. |
