Yesterday i traded the twelve platy fry off that I had raised with so much care for the last four months (they were no more "fry" then). I really had no option as all my three tanks are already crowded and I recently had new fry However i really didnt feel good at all throwing them into the LFS tank (errr..mine one is in a much better condition) and thinking of how the new owner will treat them. really felt cruel of myself....
What can you do if you dont have many friends ready to accept gifts and you want to watch your fish breed........

Well its either bring them to the fish store, or breed them as feeders.

I'm fortunate in tha tmy LFS looks after his fish well. Mind you, in the heat we're having of late, he'll have his work cut out.

When I shipped my Pandas, the recipient aquarium was at 75°F. I dread to think what it will be at now, given that we've just recorded the hottest July day on record at 97°F ...

Guess I should think about keeping Venezuelan Rams in this heat ... they'll happily live at temps up to 88°F ...

Just did an emergency cooling water change on my Panda Fun Palace because it had climbed past 84°F - I've brought it below 80, which should keep them happy for a while. Don't reckon it'll be much fun keeping the poor guys comfortable if I have to shift 15 litre buckets of water every two hours ...

I have on several occasions had to take fish that got too big or that I wasnt able to keep anymore because of moving, to my LFS. Its a very hard thing to do and is harder everytime. I found that if I didnt take money for them, it made me feel a little better. When I took money for them it made me feel like they were a possesion rather than a creature that I cared for. Sounds kinda silly but hey. Me and my wife found it hard to not go visit them everyday and see if anyone has taken them home.

One answer... MORE TANKS!!!

Hey, you just have to tell yourself that you did the right thing by thinking about their future and giving them a chance for more room. Be reassured that you'd have kicked yourself down the line when they became stunted and encountered health problems by being in your overcrowded tank.

You are right Fallout...
As for "More tanks", my parents have already threatened to throw me out with all my existing three tanks if i try to acquire one inch more of space for my fish

You can store more tanks at my house... free of charge other than upkeep and paying some one to come clean them. (OH. and I get to tell all my friends that they are my tanks) . .. (Can't blame me for trying)
