Here are just some random fish at the LFS that do not have their names written on the tanks. I thought I'd post them here to see if anyone can identify them.

Fish 1: Bichir-like fish, about 14" long and somewhat slender.

Fish 2: Rainbowfish with a striped body and bright orange fins.

Fish 3: Small, plain-colored, cichlid with bold black markings. I'm thinking it might be a juvenile peacock bass.

Fish 4: Small, speckled knifefish with small eyes, a small mouth and no dorsal fin.

Thanks!

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

could the first fish be a Rope fish. I know they are bichir-like and are in the same family...Polypteridae though they are in a different genus. they are usually longer and more slender than most bichirs.

don't know about fish 2 and 4, but I definitely agree #3 is a juvenile Peacock Bass. Not sure exactly which species as there are several but I think the most common is Cichla ocellarus. I could be wrong about that though.

the rainbowfish is a parkinsoni. the orange can take over most of a male's body as they mature. they're one of my favorites.

My friend Adam has 2 ropefish.. The first pic is definately a full grown ropefish.. They get very large and look like an aquatic serpent, very cool !

That sure as heck isn't a full-grown ropefish.

Agreed....that ropefish is maybe 50% grown.

The knife is a Steatogenys ssp., but which I am not entirely certain.

He means, assuming even that the gravel and snails in the ropefish picture are quite large, that ropefish is far from full-grown.
