Unfortunately, I'm not registering what fish you're describing. Try and get either a scientific name or try doing a [link=Google]http://www.google.com" style="COLOR: #00C000[/link] search and see if you come up with anything...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

Hmmmmm....It looks like you and I have the same fish. I posted a thread with a picture of my fish. I'm not sure what it is but it sounds like the one you described. The local fish store said it was a Bala Shark but it is obviously not even close. My girlfriend figures it is a carp of some sort. Mine is about 3-4 inches and I have had him for about 3 weeks now. Really cool fish though and will eat pellets and crickets out of my hand. I would love to know what he is.

I bet you it is an apollo shark. Check google and see if you can find some info on them. Here I will post a link to a picture.

There is some info on that website about them as well. I have commonly seen them mislabelled in stores as "Bala Sharks" or "Tinfoil Barbs", and only once labelled as their true name. I think this is what fish you are talkin about. The on in the pic is a young specimen. I have seen some with much more red and gold on them. Color varies by locale they come from, one web site I read says. They are aggressive, and will not tolerate any fish that look like them, and will kill and eat little fish once they get big. They are recommended to keep with fish no smaller than a raphael catfish said one site I looked at. The LFS I saw one properly labelled, told me that the reason this fish was brought in to the store was because it killed 2 convict cichlids and a 6 inch oscar.
All I can say is Good Luck! And I hope you have a large enough tank (75g+) and no small fish!
