Hi. I'm really excited because I have succesfully moved all my fish from my 45 gal. fish tank to my amazingly wonderful new 90 gal. fish tank. Anyways, I will be adding more fish in a few weeks and I have a couple questions.
I have my fish + 2 large plecos that came with the fish tank, but those will go to their new home in a couple of weeks. My question is would I be overstocking if I added 8 hatchet fish, 8 Harlequin rasboras, and 2 bolivian rams ( which I have yet to find) and a couple of cories to be my bottom dwellers. Also I've never had cories, which ones do you recommend. Oh yeah I have a whisper 60 filter and an aquaclear 110 running in the tank. No live plants. Does anybody see anything wrong with this setup. I want to make sure that my fish are happy. Thanks

90 gal. fish tank : 5 black skirt tetras,
5 neon tetras 7 cardinal tetras,7 fancy guppies (3m 4f.)

I believe you can add the rasboras and hatchets with no problems. It may look a little crazy having 5 schools of fish in the tank, but it won't be overstocked IMO. Also, if you add cories, add more than a couple. They are shoaling fish (kind of like schooling except they don't swim around in a group). They like bigger groups, so in your tank you could get away with 10-12.

I personally like Panda cories, Bandit cories, and Albino cories. All of them are cute though. I keep pandas, albinos, trilineatus, and sodalis. The albinos are the most active and least shy.

I think you could use more filtration. I'd get a cannister filter if you can and run it along with one of the HOB filters. You'll especially need more filtration when you add more stock. I like my Rena XP3 cannister. It runs about $100...sometimes cheaper and is well worth the money.

If you can find the bolivians, you could get 2 pairs of them. They will have enough room in your tank to make their own little territories. If you can't find bolivians, look for Apistogramma. They are beautiful little dwarf cichlids. Or German Blue rams...they are beautiful as well.
