My firemouths mated and had A LOT of babies and now its been over 3 weeks and they are getting a lot bigger...what do you people do with them after they get a certain size? The obviously can't all live in that tank (60 gallon w/ 8 tiger barbs, many assorted catfish and 2 cherry barbs and 3 CAE's) so do you give them away to your LFS or what? Thanks

BTW: These firemouths are WONDERFUL parents had still have defended their fry to this day like they were still little ones in the pits they dug. Very interesting to watch the parents.

first of all congrats on your breeding success!

you should be able to find a few LFS that will buy the babies off you once they reach a sellable size, or atleast give you store credits.

alternatively you could also try selling/trading them in the classifieds section of this website.

Congrats Would love to see some pics if possible.

You could try the above suggestions, [link=AquaBid]http://www.aquabid.com/" style="COLOR: #FFFFC0[/link], local classifieds, or a local fish club.

Good luck.

I'm not sure where you live but we've got a trading thread for USA and Canada going in the classified forum. If you live somwhere else start one for where you live or list them for sale. Shipping fish isn't all that difficult.

The alternative is growing them to the point where a LFS will take them. Most of the time they want them large enough that they at least look like the fish they are. At 3 weeks I imagine it's not apparent the fry are firemouths.

Congrats and good luck, Mike
