I am looking for a 75gl tank and have read on this site to check my lfs. They have a website where they let customers advertise used tanks, etc... I noticed that in the posts people keep asking if the tanks are "drilled". I only have freshwater tanks. Is this something for salt water? If so, would I be able to use this tank for freshwater?

Typically, drilled means some sort of whole was, well, drilled into the tank for a SW purpose. They are usually drilled for a sump or refugium.

I think you'd be best starting off with one that hasn't been drilled. Check it carefully before you buy. A 75 gallon tank isn't that much, you might be better off just getting it new.

Some filters, like sumps, and canister filters (some) require yu to drill holes in your tank.

Having a drilled tank is also a good way to hide the tank's plumbing.

Some tanks are drilled for overflows too Tempered glass should never be drilled, either. Go new.
