What fry do you think this is? It has a blue eye and swims high in the tank in a jerky movement.
It is in my new 3ft bristlenose tank and the only way I can think it was brought in is in egg from from plant bits and plants on dw which I brought in from my other tanks.
Species it could be is longfinned danio, neon tetra, black neon tetra, neon tetra, cardinal tetra, or otocinclus.
These are the best pics I could get from a fry which does not sit still and is 1/4" long.

I dont think its an oto. My experience with them is they lay their eggs in groups of 6 or 7 and usually they are attached to the glass of the tank.

My guess is some kind of Tetra. you said blue eyes? Is there a blue spot in the forehead area as well?

I did manage to get a closer shot and this brought another possibility as it could be a glass catfish too.

Probably not a glass catfish, they have not been bred in the aquarium. And despite ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny, it doesn't look much like a catfish anyway.

Looks like a danio. It seems to lack an adipose fin, which all the rest of the fish have.

I am not for sure but I would guess it is the danio as most danios are easy to spawn. I have found a few fry similar to yours in my canister filter. For some reason I never see them in the tank. I guess the make a meal out of them.

Maybe there has been some hankypanky going on between my glass cats and the lf stripey danios?

Pretty much all fry are translucent to some degree...some are almost see through. i wouldnt have your heart set on it being a glass catfish. Alternativly it could be some sort of goby or tetra from the original country where the plants where brought in from (most likely malaysia/singapore/thailand etc). Still think its a danio gone wrong though.

I've yet to breed Danios, and I've never seen fry. What makes you think anything has "gone wrong", Mez? I'll be breeding danios in the coming months, hopefully, so I'm curious.

Remember that one and only fry? Well it has stripes now so I think it must be a longfinned striped danio.
