I HAVE SOMETHING GROWING ON THE WOOD TINY BLACK THINGS.THE WOOD IS HALF IN THE WATER AND HALF OUTSIDE THE WATER? the wood has been along time in the aquarium ? i have 2 walking catfish my friend told me it can be that they layed egg but they r out side the water and the catfish stays next to them? i bought my wood from supermarket. my tank is 10 gal i have 2 walking catfish and 1 oscar and 1 rainbow shark and 1 pleco and a silver dollar.

Is the wood new to the tank? Did you scrub it before?

Where did you get the wood? Could it be snails? What size tank do you have and are the catfish the only fish in there?

Yes very overstocked...you need like a 75 tank or larger for all those fish.
An oscar alone, when full grown needs at least a 55g tank. The Rainbow shark gets pretty big, the silver dollar will get pretty big and if the pleco is a common pleco it will get about a foot long.
Time to rethink stocking.

Yes a picture of the wood will help us identify what is on it. It could be a number of things.
