Their not WCMM.

The line on a WCMM is iridescent, not black, and it is at the top of their body, not in the middle, twords the bottom.

And as stated before, they are too pail for a WCMM

But there's a huge difference in fin shape between the fish in the bag and the pencilfish - and "purple during breeding" is highly unlikely to translate to bright, unmistakeable blue during a time of stress. Plus, the owner's already said it's L. goodei.

I used to have some pencilfish that looked just like that. I cant remember what species of pencil they were, but during times of breeding they had distinctfully red red fins and the dorsal got such deep dark red it appeared purple...perhaps why the "bluish" coloration of the fish.
Yes in 1 photo there is WCMM, its outside the bag these guys came in if youll notice.
I say Pencilfish of some type. Definetly the same kind I used to have.

That picture of the killie has a red anal fin - but that's just one male. Many of them have a blue anal and dorsal.

from the pic it looks like the anal fin of the fish in question is blue. The killies have a red anal fin, but blue dorsal. The rasbora doesn't look much like it (fin shapes all wrong)

The fish in question:

Bluefin Killifish (Lucania goodei):

Brilliant rasbora:

Since the Brilliant Rasbora lacks the blue fins that give the "Bluefin killie" its name, I think it' pretty clear this fish is the killie.

I'd bet my socks they're Brilliant Rasbora.

Are they handing out at the bottom of the tank? The Brilliants differ from most rasboras in that they prefer to be at the bottom then the top. Quite a delicate fish, need high water quality.

I found these fish in the guppy tank at walmart. Since the guy there didnt know the difference i got them as female guppies. But they deffinetly are far from female guppies. Sorry the pictures arent of great quality, i couldnt get my good camera to work. Click on them to make them bigger:

I'm with Castlequest on this, given the blue dorsals and so on. I have to say, I've never seen WCMM that looked anything like that - the bodies are far too pale. Definitely not female guppies. I was thinking Pencilfish too for the first couple of shots but that blue dorsal just doesn't fit.

cup of life noodles, you may be right. i cannot tell from the quality of the pics. i doubt they are wcmm, there is no way they are female guppies. from what i can view, i would still lean towards a pencilfish species.

Mariosim, I had similar thoughts when first viewing the pictures, however, the fish in the pictures lack the anal red coloring and are a bit too "rounded" to be nannostomus beckfordi. They could be, though, as the pictures are quite blurry.

Looks like Lucania goodei, a type of killifish.
