I recently took home a fish from work. It came in with our shipment of Ghost Shrimp. I don't have a picture of him because he is pretty small and quick. When I asked my co-workers what is was everyone just glaced at it and said Oto. I looked a little closer and realized he was no Oto. He looks like some kind of Goby. My question is what kind of fish is he?

hehehe - without a picture or better description, you're asking the impossible.

length? colouration? fin shape and position? mouth shape?

Perhaps it is, but a lot of gobies look very similar.

Okay now I am starting to think it is not a tidewater goby. I will do my best to come up with a better description because I tried to take a picture of him but he is very small and at times very difficult to find
He is a light brown with dark brown almost grey-black speckles all over him. Near his gills he has a slight blue coloration.
He had two dorsal fins and he uses his pelvic fins to "stand" on the substrate and his head up.
His eys are not high on his head. I would say they are located in a locations most fish have their eyes.
He is about 1 inch in length right now.
One last thing I might be crazy but his eyes look red to me.

This sounds familiar The LFS that I work for has gotten several of these things in with the GS. I will grab a pic tomorrow, on my way home and post the pic.

It sounds like a native fish we have here in our creeks and rivers. I beleive they are called muddlers. Does he look like this?

I catch these in the river at my parents house, they don't get very big only 3-4 inches.

Now that I am looking at him he looks more like what Jim is showing. Mine still looks a little lighter than that one. That one that Gourami posted has the same coloration as mine but Jim's has the same body type as mine.
