A 10 gal probably isn't that much more than than $55. You will then have more options in terms of fish. Otherwise, you might be able to fit 3 guppies in that tank you want. Just watch out for the fry. |

Without a heater your options are a bit limited though...the tank does have space to add a heater if you're interested. My 6g has dwarf puffers & otos. I have a 5g that's currently home to 2 female bettas and a tiny rubbernose plec. And my other odd-sized tank (it's ~5-6g) has WCMMs. That's an option for an unheated tank although they like to school; I do very frequent water changes in that tank. With guppies you'd want either all females or at least a trio of 1M/2F to keep the stress down on the females. Endler's are also an option for a small tank. A pair of cherry barbs would work too and they have nice color. [span class="edited"][Edited by Theresa_M 2004-07-04 05:29][/span] ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

It is about 7 gallons. I am wondering what species would be good in there. The tanks temp would most likely be at 68-72 F. Also, does Cycle really do that much to speed up bacteria growth? Im thinking of a small school of Neons. If its a good idea, how many do you think can do well in there? I'll do graffiti, If you sing to me in French. |
katieb![]() Fish Addict Posts: 697 Votes: 69 Registered: 03-Jul-2004 ![]() | Thank you all so much. I didnt realize i had those options. I miscalculated the tank is about 5.5-6 usgal. Would that make much of a difference? I really would hate to have an bunch of stressed out, overcrowded fish. Janna![]() ![]() Mega Fish Posts: 1386 Registered: 24-Aug-2003 ![]() | In a tank that small, I wouldn't put any schooling fish in there. They just wouldn't have enough room to move. You could have killifish, guppies, endlers, female bettas, or dwarf puffers. It really depends on what YOU like. ![]() They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver, So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces. |
TigerAngel![]() ![]() Fish Addict Posts: 522 Registered: 22-Feb-2004 ![]() | I agree with Janna. Single fish like Bettas, Paradise Fish would do well, but shoaling fish it will be too small. Even though Guppys are small, this tank would be too small for them, as Guppys love to swim around, while Bettas and Paradise fish seem to like just being lazy. Except of cause when you put them into a community tank. Then they liven up. |
TigerAngel![]() ![]() Fish Addict Posts: 522 Registered: 22-Feb-2004 ![]() | You were right the first time. It is a 7.79 us gal. CALCULATE YOUR AQUARIUM VOLUME(US) Width = inches 7.5" Length = inches 16" Height = inches 15" Your Tank Volume is US Gallons 7.79 us gals. http://www.cfac.fsnet.co.uk/Calculators.htm |

Mn_Rick![]() Hobbyist Posts: 106 Kudos: 105 Votes: 0 Registered: 05-Jun-2004 ![]() | Here's what I found about Paradise Fish: "They should have at least a 20 gallon tank. Living in smaller tanks is not very fun for these fish, as they just sit listlessly in them and do nothing. These are not like the bettas, they like to move about. Plus they are much bigger than bettas. This is not saying bettas don't need room however." I'd say a Betta ![]() |
