This guy was sold as an "algae-eating shark." based on its markings, I assumed it was a TRUE siamese algae eater, but I haven't seen him eat a bit of algae. Can anyone confirm what species this is? I know the photo quality isn't great, but I'm not exactly a fish-picture taking expert.

Ya that looks like the true siamese algae eater to me. They dont eat much algae off the glass that i have noticed unless its really built up. They like to eat it off of other things in the tank that are easier to grase on. And they will also much on about just anything else you feed your fish. Mine was great. They arent the best algae eaters in the world but they are cool fish.

It does appear to be a SAE, but a somewhat weird looking one.

I'm not your neighbor, you Bakersfield trash.

What do you mean, a weird-looking one? If it looks a little bright, it's because the flash on the camera was on.

It's a little long and skinny for an SAE.

Working at Petco, I've seen fish with SAE markings mixed up among the CAEs. I'm fence-sitting whether they were SAEs or CAEs with a different coloration.
