Long time since ive visited!

Have to start over in my 55g as the heater busted and 'cooked' all the fish and plants that i had.

So now i have the tank planted, with rocks, driftwood so it has a combination of nice open areas and hidey holes for those that want them. Filtration is good as is lighting and air.

My delima comes when deciding what fish i want as there are too many options

What i have decided on so far is this;
12 cardinals
12 glolights
4-6 yoyo loaches(want clowns but get to big)
1-2 bristlenose cats

now the others that im unsure of are these (obviously not all of them).

12 rummynose
12 black tetras
1-2 kribs
1-2 bolivian rams
2-4 congo tetras
6 cordy (not sure what type)
2 angels

Any suggestions you can offer of possible combinations or variations will be greatly appreciated

Thanks

If you want 12 in a school, I'd stick with 2 types. If you brought the numbers down to 6-8, then you could squeeze in the 3rd school. Personally, I like 2 big schools better. My tank has 3 and its really chaotic looking...I wish I only had 2 big schools of fish.

I think with the stocking you want, you could add the bolivian rams, the cories, and possibly the angels. Cardinals look alot like neons, which are the natural prey of angels, so I'm not sure I would chance that. A bigger gourami would be nice though...and wouldn't put your tetras in danger.

I will suggest getting the rummynose tetras instead of the glowlights though. I know the cardinals and rummies both have red on them...but I prefer rummies over glowlights. They are great schoolers and a big group of 12 would look awesome. The black neons and rummynose tetras would make good contrast, if you chose those 2 instead.

What kind of filtration do you have? With the 2 big schools and heavy bottom load (loaches, cories, rams), I'd go with a cannister. You shouldn't be overstocked, but will be at the max IMO. My 55g is a bit overstocked but my Rena XP3 keeps the water nice and clean.

And I hear ya on fish decisions. That is one of my problems too...way too many options. You'll just have to set up a couple more tanks.

Thanks, filtration is currently a fluval 305 cannister as the internal in there was way to strong for most tropical fish!

Yeah i was starting to think that 2 bigger schools would probably be better than three. so do you think that the rams would be a better choice than the kribs?

Used to have 17 tanks but the work load and cost was just getting ridiculous so ended up selling most to a good home and just my kept my two fav set ups. start stocking this weekend cant wait.
