Hi there,
I have got a 3ft tank that needs to be filled with maybe a couple of fish. Anyone with any ideas on what to keep ?

PS: No Arowanas please. They grow a little too big.

Do you have any fish in there now? If not, stock it with tiger barbs

Anything in particular you're interested in? You said a couple fish so I'm thinking you're not interested in anything schooling like tetras, barbs, danios, rasboras? My first thoughts were either gouramis or dwarf cichlids.

My thoughts are with Theresa...as Timmy never suggests anything different.

Why don't you go to your LFS, browse tanks, and write down the names of the fish you're interested in? If we take it from there, it might be a little easier to suggest things, unless you already know what your interested in. YOu have many possibilites.

Jon, do you really live in Singapore? You might also have a slightly different selection of fish than people in other countries have, so we'll need to take that into account too.

But we always enjoy playing with other people's tanks so please do get back to us and let us help

You ask a tough question - one that really no one can tell you what to do. This is a question no one but yourself can answer.
Fish have all sorts of traits - those that school together and those that do best by themselves. Those that grow large and those that grow small. There are bottom dwellers, top dwellers, and those that live in the middle. There are vegitarians, carnivors, and omnivors (eats anything). They come in all different colors and shapes. There are those that are relatively easy to keep and those that are extremely challenging.
I would highly suggest you research the fish profiles here on this website and read up on the various species. Perhaps you will find one or more that catch your interest.

If you keep blue and gold gouramis together they will likely kill each other. not a good idea.
How about some tetras?
Buenos Aires are nice, pristellas are also, so are the littler guys like Glowlights and Neons.
